Highways Volunteer Scheme
The Highways Volunteer Scheme is a joint initiative between Helsby Parish Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council. Under this scheme, the Parish Council is tasked with identifying areas within the village that would benefit from improvement and assembling a team of volunteers. Cheshire West and Chester Council, in turn, provides the necessary equipment, training, and public liability insurance for carrying out the work. The tasks undertaken may include weed removal, grass verge trimming, vegetation clearance, and signage cleaning.
The first session took place in March 2025, during which nine volunteers, including both councillors and local residents, cleared a section of the pavement along Chester Road. Additional sessions will be scheduled throughout the summer months. Those interested in volunteering for future sessions are encouraged to contact the Parish Clerk.
