Allotments
Having an allotment is a great way to produce your own food, get some fresh air and enjoy some company with fellow allotment holders. The parish council owns two allotment sites in Helsby – Old Chester Road and Queens Drive.
Old Chester Road
This site is adjacent to Helsby Public Cemetery and has 23 plots. This site has no parking facilities and access is by a gate on Old Chester Road. It has pleasant views of Helsby Hill and it is easy to reach via public transport routes along Chester Road. The site has a water supply.
Queens Drive
The site runs adjacent to the railway line and has 28 plots. There are limited parking facilities available and access is via a gate off RSK’s car park on Mountain View. The site has several standpipes and is located next to the Helsby Village Produce Association hut where you can purchase gardening supplies (restricted open times from February to September).
Rents are payable annually from 1st October as follows:
- Small plot – £30
- Large plot – £45
- There is an additional £3.50 annual charge for public liability insurance.

Once we have a vacant plot and you are at the top of the waiting list, we will contact you to invite you to inspect the plot and decide whether you wish to take it on.
There is an allotment Whatsapp group for each site where you can ask for general advice or help with watering whilst on holiday, trade plants and general allotment “gear” etc.
